Magic Beanstalk Players

Inspiring our community’s youth to be the best version of themselves

About dramworks' Youth Theatre Program

Magic Beanstalk Players offers a unique opportunity for students from Kindergarten through Eigth Grade to participate in theatrical activities. Our program encourages collaboration, teamwork,  creative thinking and problem-solving skills, and helps students build self-confidence and self-esteem. All youth are welcome,  regardless of their current singing,  dancing. Our acting skills… that’s what we are here for!

Spring registration is CLOSED!

Spring registration for our performance of Mary Poppins Jr is now CLOSED as we have finalized our cast Lists for the show!

Mary Poppins Jr. is a family friendly musical based on the classic P.L. Travers books and the 1964 Disney film. The show follows the magical Mary Poppins as she arrives in 1910 London to take care of the Banks children, Jane and Michael, using a combination of magic and common sense to teach their family how to value each other again. It features beloved songs like “A Spoonful of Sugar” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”. Please join us as we share this timeless classic all about love,  family,  and coming together.  Themes we can ALL relate to!

Rehearsals

Sprouts (K-2) and Stalks (3rd-8th) will be combined together during rehearsals and performances to tell our wonderful tale.

Actors will be called to rehearse on either Tuesdays or Thursdays from 3:30-5:30pm (we have 2 FULL CASTS!) and roles/certain ensembles will be called on Wednesdays from 3:30-5pm. A FULL detailed rehearsal schedule will be sent out in January letting you know when your performer is scheduled. Sprouts will be called for only part of the rehearsal time (3:30-4:30 usually) on their rehearsal day.

Typically blocking rehearsals and ensemble vocal rehearsals will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays and solo/duet vocals and choreography rehearsals will be on Wednesdays.

PLEASE NOTE: Please be sure to fill out the “Rehearsal Conflicts” section of the registration form with ALL known conflicts for the rehearsal period (Jan 6th- Performances) so we can do our best to schedule around them. Conflicts are needing to miss a rehearsal for ANY REASON other than illness or emergencies. All performers cast in a leading role (including but not limited to: Mary, Burt,  Jane,  Michael. Mr. And Mrs.  Banks, Ms. Andrews,  Nelius,  Northbrook,  etc) are being asked to miss no more than 2 scheduled rehearsals (not including illnesses or emergencies).

There are two semesters, fall and spring. The fall semester is typically 14 weeks of classes which culminates in a small performance for parents/families/friends. Throughout the spring semester students rehearse for 3-4 months and put on a full-scale musical production. There are typically 2 or 3 performances open to the public.
