Elliott Johnson Smart Scholarship Awarded to Drama Student
dramaworks’ Magic Beanstalk Player program is please to announce Sylvia Klauck is this
year’s recipient of the Elliott Johnson Smart Scholarship. Program Director, Danielle Wagner
Plocki states, “Sylvia is very deserving of this award. She has been a Magic Beanstalk Player
for many years and has shown dedication to the program. She loves taking on challenging
roles and has shown commitment to improving herself as an actor by participating in a recent
dramaworks community theatre production.” Sylvia will be graduating from the program this
spring as a sixth grader. She will be playing the role of Pepper in the upcoming production of
Annie KIDS. “We have 55 students ranging from kindergarten through sixth grade involved,”
states Plocki, “Due to our large numbers we have two full casts currently in rehearsals. Each
cast will perform three times for a total of six performances.” The production will be held at the
West End Theatre on April 11-14, 2024. Tickets will go on sale to the public in March.
The Elliott Johnson Smart Scholarship was created by Elliott’s family and contributed to by
many loving friends, family and community members. In the spirit of Elliott’s memory, and his
love of theatre, the Scholarship is awarded to one deserving student each year who has
demonstrated exemplary performance, enthusiasm and dedication to the Magic Beanstalk
Player youth drama program.
