About

Lend Me a Tenor is a sidesplitting stage comedy by Ken Ludwig that combines classic farce, mistaken identity, and high-stakes hilarity in one uproarious theatrical experience.

Set in a Cleveland hotel suite in the 1930s, the play centers around the Cleveland Grand Opera Company’s biggest night of the season—featuring the world-famous Italian tenor, Tito Merelli, in a performance of Otello. But when Tito arrives late, accidentally overdoses, and is presumed dead just before curtain time, panic erupts.

Desperate to save the show, the opera manager’s timid assistant, Max, is thrust into the spotlight as a last-minute stand-in. But when Tito unexpectedly wakes up, still ready to perform, the situation spirals into an outrageous series of miscommunications, romantic complications, and frantic costume changes—with two Otellos, jealous lovers, and clueless bystanders colliding in a whirlwind of comic confusion.

Brimming with razor-sharp dialogue, physical comedy, and perfectly timed absurdity, Lend Me a Tenor is a masterclass in farce. It’s a delightful tribute to the chaos of show business and the thin line between disaster and triumph—guaranteeing an evening of nonstop laughter.
